The Conflict on the Durland Line of Pakistan/Afghanistan: Struggling for Rights or Survival? Join the Center for a discussion with University of Peshawar Professor Nasir Khattak who will discuss the impact of the conflict on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan on the Pashtun ethnic groups found on both sides of the “Durand Line.” Folk songs in the region, traditionally sung by women, have recently reflected the manifestation of the psychological damage done to the Pashtun; words of love and marriage have recently transformed into songs about bullets, guns, and bombs. Come join us for lunch as we discuss in an open forum the fascinating manifestation of how this conflict has affected the people who aren’t even participants in the battle.
